A Career That Left a Mark

A TCU alum, McGinnis served as head coach of the Arizona Cardinals (2000–03) before spending years as an assistant with the Titans and later the Rams. Most recently, he was a beloved radio analyst for Tennessee, bringing insight and warmth to broadcasts.

Tributes From Across the NFL

Players and analysts quickly honored McGinnis. Titans star Jeffery Simmons wrote: “Wow… The joy Coach Mac had everyday at the building for practice was one of none! Thanks for pouring into this game, especially here in Tennessee! Rest in Peace coach!”

Broadcaster Dawn Davenport shared heartfelt words: “I’m just heartbroken 💔 Coach Mac was the absolute best…always championing me in my career, always teaching me ball, and always there to lend an ear. Constantly checked in on my family. A dear friend to SO MANY.”

NFL Network’s Daniel Jeremiah added: “Always enjoyed our press box visits over the years. Just a very kind, sweet man who loved football. Praying for his family & friends.”

A Legacy Beyond Football

McGinnis was remembered not only for his coaching but for his kindness and mentorship. As Albert Breer noted: “Mac was the man, every room he ever walked into got happier with his presence alone.”

From colleagues to fans, the message was clear: Dave McGinnis lived football with passion and lived life with generosity. His influence will continue to resonate across the league.
