Just hours after undergoing emergency surgery to repair a gruesome tibia and fibula fracture sustained against Qatar, Canada’s midfield powerhouse Ismaël Koné has taken to social media to send an incredibly emotional message to his teammates and fans, Yankee Scores reports.
Canadian midfielder Ismael Kone appreciated the support from his teammates and fans following a successful operation to mend his broken leg.
Kone suffered the fracture on Thursday after Canada thrashed Qatar in a match that saw them win 6-0.
The former Watford player got hurt when Assim Madibo tackled him while contesting for the ball in an incident that shocked other players on the pitch.
The Sassuolo player had to wave at fans as he finally left the pitch in a stretcher.
According to Canada Soccer, Kone will not feature in the remaining games of the competition, but his injury is not serious.
He expressed his appreciation via Instagram “Your love and support has been felt, honestly thank you so much. You can’t even imagine how grateful I am to everyone who reached out and that has me in their prayers
“I wanted you to know that I love you guys from the bottom of my heart and our brotherhood is everything to me.
“What you guys did yesterday will stay with me forever. I’ll be back very soon and we’ll keep making more memories together.”
