Miami’s biggest chance to seize control came seven minutes later as Messi stepped up for a penalty that Nashville keeper Brian Schwake got down to save.
Reguilón buried the rebound, but it was ruled out for entering the box early.

Playing his first match since losing his father earlier this month, Messi looked understandably a step off his usual sharpness, and once Nashville’s front line found its rhythm, Miami had no real answer.
Nashville stays top of the Eastern Conference, while Miami slips to a third straight loss heading into a road trip to Philadelphia.
