Trailing by two goals and away at the notoriously hostile Metropolitano, 18-year-old Lamine Yamal is relying on LeBron James’ legendary comeback in 2016 to breathe life back into Barcelona’s Champions League campaign. Yankee Scores reports
Lamine Yamal wants inspiration from LeBron James as he looks to assist Barcelona get out of the hole and defeat Atlético Madrid in the Champions League quarterfinal clash on Tuesday.
The 2016 Blueprint: Yamal’s Inspiration from LeBron
Following Barça’s defeat 2-0 in the first leg at Spotify Camp Nou last week, a meme surfaced regarding James taking the Cavaliers to victory in the NBA Finals 4-3 against the Warriors.
“Lebron is one of the references that is inspiring me for the game,” Yamal said in a news conference.
“I put it as my photo for that reason. I am thinking about how he did it [in 2016] and hoping for the same result for us.”

Mission Metropolitano: Overturning the Two-Goal Deficit
Yamal will be very important in the second game at the Metropolitano. The Catalans look to overturn a two-goal deficit and qualify for the semi-final against either Arsenal or Sporting Clube.
The 18-year-old boasts an impressive tally of 22 goals and 18 assists in 43 matches for the Catalan giants this season. Though, he claims he does not care about the expectations on him.
Can Barça Break the Madrid Hex?
On Tuesday, Barça and Atlético Madrid will face off for the sixth time this season. Barça won the two La Liga meetings. However, they were hammered by 4-0 in the Copa del Rey semifinal first leg in Madrid earlier this year. They failed to overturn that defeat in the second leg, where they lost 3-0.
This time the job will be a little easier, with Barça only down 2-0 instead of 4-0, but they will have to do it away from home.
As for their injury crisis, Barça will be missing Raphinha and Andreas Christensen. Meanwhile, Pau Cubarsí is suspended following his dismissal in the first leg. Marc Bernal is a doubt despite traveling with the squad. Frenkie de Jong is likely to start after playing in the last game as a substitute.
