Serena Williams has canceled her tennis comeback, at least temporarily, withdrawing from her doubles match at Wimbledon citing a knee problem, Yankee Scores reports.
The tennis legend opened up about her withdrawal on Saturday – writing she’s heartbroken to turn her back on the doubles – calling the return to competition a “gift.”
She says she really wanted to play with her sister Venus Williams and did everything she could to get ready… but unfortunately her knee just isn’t there yet, per TMZ.

Serena’s comeback ended on an inauspicious note, but the 23-time Grand Slam champ isn’t quitting … telling fans to watch a city near you — implying she could show up there and play again soon.
The star’s departure came days after she was eliminated from the singles tournament in a surprising defeat to Maya Joint in the first round of the tournament.
Serena was making her first appearance in a professional tennis match since stepping away from the sport after the U.S. Open in 2022.
Serena also posted some shocking photos of syringes she says are filled with fluid drained from her knee… suggesting this isn’t just some soreness she couldn’t play through.
