Stephon Castle, Victor Wembanyama, De'Aaron Fox

San Antonio Spurs hit a landmark moment in their season, with Victor Wembanyama once again proving decisive in a thrilling clash against the Los Angeles Clippers, Yankee Scores reports.

The Spurs overturned an early 14-point deficit, then survived a late scare to edge past the Clippers 119-115. Wembanyama delivered 21 points and 13 rebounds, while rookie Stephon Castle starred with 23 points, eight assists, and seven rebounds. Devin Vassell chipped in 20 points as San Antonio celebrated their first 50-win campaign since 2016-17.

Castle summed up the team’s resilience: “We knew they’d make a run, but we stayed composed and finished strong.”

Clippers Falter Without Kawhi

Los Angeles, battling for a play-in spot, slipped back to .500 after their second consecutive defeat. Kawhi Leonard, the NBA’s sixth-leading scorer, was sidelined with a sprained left knee, leaving Darius Garland to lead the charge. Garland finished with 25 points and 10 assists, while Jordan Miller impressed off the bench with 22 points.

Despite their reserves outscoring San Antonio’s 57-30, the Clippers couldn’t close the gap late. Garland’s surge cut the deficit to four with 38 seconds left, but the Spurs held firm from the free-throw line.

Momentum Swings Define the Contest

The game was a rollercoaster. The Clippers opened with blistering shooting, hitting 65% in the first quarter and racing to a 17-3 lead. Yet the Spurs responded with a 15-0 run across the first and second quarters, outscoring Los Angeles 37-15 in the second to lead 66-52 at halftime.

San Antonio stretched their advantage to 24 in the third, only for the Clippers to roar back with a 16-3 run. The fourth quarter became a tense battle, but the Spurs’ composure proved decisive.

What Next

For the Spurs, attention quickly shifts to Sacramento as they complete a back-to-back on Tuesday night. Meanwhile, the Clippers must regroup before facing New Orleans on Wednesday, the first stop of a three-game road trip.

This victory not only highlighted Wembanyama’s growing influence but also signaled San Antonio’s return to relevance in the Western Conference playoff race.
