The San Antonio Spurs have reached a multi-year agreement with NBA superstar Victor Wembanyama, Yankee Scores reports.
ESPN reports that the deal, which is for five years and $252m (£188m), is the NBA maximum for a rookie scale player extension for the 7ft 4in France centre.

The 22-year-old reportedly has an option in the fifth season and could have inserted clauses to make the deal worth more but chose not to do so so as to give the Spurs more financial flexibility. “Spurs family, I’m not going nowhere. “Whatever it takes,” Wembanyama wrote on social media before the deal was announced.
Wembanyama is the youngest player to win the NBA’s defensive player of the year award, receiving all 100 first-place votes.

The two-time All-Star and first overall pick in the 2023 NBA Draft helped the Spurs reach the NBA Finals last season but they fell short of the title, losing to the New York Knicks 4-1 in the best-of-seven series.
He led the league with 3.1 blocks per game and set career highs in points (25), rebounds (11.5) and assists (3.1) in 64 regular-season games during the 2025-26 season.
