The NFL world is buzzing again. Aaron Rodgers, at 42, appears to be plotting a return to Pittsburgh, with reports suggesting a Steelers reunion could be on the horizon in 2026. Yankee Scores reports.
Rodgers’ Plan Revealed
According to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, Rodgers is “likely” to play for the Steelers in 2026. He cautioned that “a deal is not done and there is always caution until things are signed,” but emphasized that Rodgers’ plan is to suit up for Pittsburgh.
The news follows local radio station 93.7 The Fan reporting on Thursday Rodgers will be in town this weekend to meet with the organization.

Contract Situation
Pittsburgh recently placed a right of first refusal tender on Rodgers, essentially locking in a $15 million placeholder salary while retaining the ability to match any outside offer. Instead of testing the market, Rodgers is expected to visit the Steelers with the intent of finalizing a new deal.
Reunion with McCarthy
If the deal is completed, Rodgers will reunite with new Steelers head coach Mike McCarthy. The two shared 13 seasons together in Green Bay with the Packers from 2006 to 2018, posting a 100‑57‑1 record in games Rodgers started and winning Super Bowl XLV in 2010.
Reports indicate they’ve stayed in touch “every couple of days” this offseason, making the reunion feel almost inevitable.
Steelers’ Quarterback Picture
Currently, Pittsburgh’s quarterback room features rookie Drew Allar, selected in the third round of the 2026 draft (No. 76), alongside veterans Mason Rudolph and Will Howard. Rodgers would immediately slide in as QB1, giving the Steelers a proven leader as they aim for a fourth straight playoff appearance.
