Adam Vinatieri, widely regarded as the greatest kicker in NFL history, will be inducted into the Indianapolis Colts’ Ring of Honor this season, the team announced Wednesday.
The ceremony is set for Oct. 18 at Lucas Oil Stadium, when the Colts host the Tennessee Titans in a Week 6 matchup.
Vinatieri will become the 21st honoree in franchise history, joining a group that includes Peyton Manning, Reggie Wayne, Marvin Harrison, Edgerrin James and Dwight Freeney.
Hall of Fame Bound
The induction comes during a landmark year for Vinatieri, who was also named to the Pro Football Hall of Fame Class of 2026.
He will receive his gold jacket in Canton, Ohio, next month before the Ring of Honor ceremony follows in October. Vinatieri spent 24 seasons in the NFL, playing 14 with the Colts from 2006 to 2019 after beginning his career with the New England Patriots.
He signed with Indianapolis as a free agent in March 2006 and helped the franchise win Super Bowl XLI that season, one of four championships he claimed across his career.
Statistically, Vinatieri stands alone. He retired as the NFL’s all-time leading scorer with 2,673 points and also holds league records for field goals made, field goals attempted and consecutive field goals converted, per ESPN
With the Colts specifically, he made 336 of 394 field-goal attempts and finished as the franchise’s all-time leader in points, field goals and extra points made.
A three-time Pro Bowl selection and three-time All-Pro, Vinatieri was also named to the NFL’s 100th Anniversary All-Time Team, cementing his place among the sport’s most decorated players heading into his Ring of Honor and Hall of Fame double honor this year.
