The Arizona Diamondbacks have a plan to get Ketel Marte back on the field and manager Torey Lovullo laid it out this week.

A Timeline Begins to Form
The team hopes to have Marte back in the lineup for a home series next week against the Philadelphia Phillies that opens August 31.
“That’s what we’re thinking about,” Lovullo said according to ESPN. “I think that will be the 10th day or the 11th day, so there is definitely a strategy to get him back on the field, get him healthy.”
Marte has been out since August 17, when he skipped a game in Boston. The Diamondbacks initially put him on the restricted list to try to figure out what was going on before moving him to the 10-day injured list after an MRI revealed mild inflammation in his left knee.
The team is letting him work through things on his own terms.
Progress
The good news is Marte took batting practice on Monday at the club’s facility in Scottsdale and hitting coach Joe Mather liked what he saw.
If all goes well with the recovery, Marte would be activated right around the 10-day IL mark, which lines up well with the Phillies series.
Arizona is in a wild card race and just a game behind the Padres in the standings, so having a three-time All-Star back at second base would be of great advantage
