The Brandon Aiyuk saga isn’t going anywhere and apparently neither is Brandon Aiyuk. For the second time in three days, the San Francisco 49ers wide receiver took to Instagram to air his grievances with the franchise, Yankee scores reports.
This time he didn’t hold back. “You wanna know why they really mad tho? They are angry because they are dumb. They mad cuz they paid me 50 million dollars in 8 months,” Aiyuk said. “And then cancelled my warranties for 2027. And I’m going to be on a new team in 2026”

Backstory
Aiyuk hasn’t played since tearing his ACL, MCL and meniscus in the 2024 season. He gave up nearly $27 million in guarantees when the franchise put him on the reserve/left squad list for refusing to take part in rehab sessions on his surgically repaired knee.
The 49ers, for their part, appear content to hold onto his rights. San Francisco is holding off on releasing Aiyuk, who remains on the reserve/left squad list, but there is no hard deadline for that, as he is not being paid and does not count against their 90-man roster.
Coach Kyle Shanahan also scrapped the team’s mandatory minicamp, which conveniently meant Aiyuk had no reason to show up and force the organization’s hand, per ESPN.
There’s a sense around the league that Aiyuk would prefer to land with the Washington Commanders, where quarterback Jayden Daniels — a close friend from their Arizona State days — is entering his third NFL season.
It’s shaping up to be a long summer in Santa Clara
