Packers Running Back Josh Jacobs has been charged with misdemeanor battery and misdemeanor damage to property according to the records of the courts of Wisconsin.
These charges were brought forth more than three months after his arrest following domestic violence allegations, per ESPN.
Legal Status
“Our office sought to ensure a fair and complete review of available evidence, some of which only recently became available to our office due to significant, ongoing forensic efforts by law enforcement,” Brown County District Attorney David L. Lasee said in a statement.
“A criminal complaint is nothing more than a written, formal accusation against a defendant alleging the commission of criminal offenses and does not raise any inference of guilt. Mr. Jacobs is presumed innocent of these charges. As this is an ongoing criminal case, and out of respect for the rights of all parties, our office will not have further comment on the matter at this time.”
As per the criminal complaint, the girlfriend of Jacobs said to the officers that she was looking at Jacobs’ phone and realized that he was talking to some other girls as well. She got upset and threw away his phone. She then informed Jacobs that he could have a look at her phone and that he should call a cab to take her to Chicago. While she tried to get her phone back, Jacobs refused to return the same and grabbed her arm.
Later, the complaint said the woman attempted to leave Jacobs’ garage when he “grabbed her and threw her to the ground and she struck her head, suffering an injury.”
The report says a police officer “observed redness to [her] face and neck and was able to feel that she had a bump on the back of her head. She described that she was in pain as a result of the injuries.” She also said Jacobs did not return one of her phones and damaged the other.
The report further revealed that there was evidence in form of security footage captured by the security cameras within the garage but not within the house.
A statement issued by the attorneys representing Jacobs, David Z. Chesnoff, Richard A. Schonfeld and Clarence F. Duchac III, stated: “Brown County District Attorney has viewed the evidence and decided to charge Josh with misdemeanors and not domestic violence. These allegations will be brought up in court and not in media. Mr. Jacobs appreciates the work done by District Attorney’s office.”

It is important to note that the NFL has issued a suspension for Jacobs and has started an investigation. The decision to start his suspension from the current season or after the legal proceedings will be determined by the NFL.
