Brian Robinson Jr

The Atlanta Falcons are stirring up intrigue with their latest roster decision. A familiar name from the NFC West could soon be wearing black and red… Yankee Scores reports.

Brian Robinson Jr. Expected to Join Atlanta

NFL insider Jordan Schultz reports, “The Atlanta Falcons are expected to sign former San Francisco 49ers running back Brian Robinson Jr., an unrestricted free agent.” Robinson, who served as Christian McCaffrey’s primary backup in 2025, now appears set to bring his talents to Atlanta.

From Washington to San Francisco

Robinson’s journey has been eventful. Drafted by the Washington Commanders in the third round of the 2022 NFL Draft, he quickly became their featured back. In August 2025, he was traded to the 49ers for a 2026 sixth-round pick. His role in San Francisco was crucial, offering depth behind McCaffrey while contributing on special teams.

During the 2025 season, Robinson played all 17 games, recording 92 carries for 400 rushing yards and two touchdowns. He averaged 4.3 yards per attempt and added 8 receptions for 25 yards. On special teams, he totaled 378 kick return yards, showcasing his versatility.

Career Numbers Tell the Story

Over four NFL seasons, Robinson has appeared in 58 games with 37 starts. He has amassed 2,729 rushing yards and 17 touchdowns on 662 carries. His receiving stats include 73 catches for 612 yards and five touchdowns. These numbers highlight his ability to contribute in multiple phases of the game.

Impact on Falcons and 49ers

For Atlanta, Robinson’s signing could solidify a backfield already featuring Bijan Robinson. The combination of youth and veteran presence may give the Falcons one of the most balanced rushing attacks in the NFC South.

Meanwhile, the 49ers will rely on Jordan James, Isaac Guerendo, and Patrick Taylor to back up McCaffrey. Robinson’s departure leaves a gap, but San Francisco has shown confidence in its depth chart.

Looking Ahead

If finalized, this move positions Brian Robinson Jr. as a key piece in Atlanta’s offensive puzzle. His experience and toughness could help the Falcons establish a run-heavy identity, while giving Bijan Robinson a reliable partner in the backfield.
