ictor Osimhen visits Olososun, Lagos

Galatasaray striker Victor Osimhen has returned to Olusosun, Ojota, Lagos, the community and football pitch where his journey began, Yankee Scores reports.

The Olusosun Homecoming

The Super Eagles and Galatasaray striker made his yearly pilgrimage after the European season and he spent a lot of time with the locals, inspiring a lot of young footballers who want to walk in his shoes.

In footage from the visit, Osimhen was also seen being warmly greeted by fans, with many praising him for staying in touch with his roots despite becoming one of Africa’s biggest football stars.

Osimhen smiled at the mammoth crowd in the company of security personnel.

Born in 1998 in the then Lagos state’s remote town of Olusosun, Osimhen is the youngest of 6 siblings to Elder Patrick and Mrs Christianah Osihmen.

Osimhen’s Transfer Trajectory

The Super Eagles striker rose to fame after winning the 2015 FIFA World Cup in Chile under Manu Garba, winning the Golden Boot with 10 goals.

His World Cup exploits earned him a move to VfL Wolfsburg, where he spent two seasons before being loaned to Charleroi. He then moved from the Belgian side to French Ligue 1, where he played for Lille.

Napoli signed him from Lille in 2020 for a club-record fee of €70 million, potentially rising to €80 million with add-ons. After a fallout at Napoli, Galatasaray first signed Osimhen on loan, then permanently for a net transfer fee of €75 million, making it the highest transfer fee in Turkish football history.
