Liverpool are on the verge of acquiring the services of Bradley Barcola from Paris St-Germain for a sum estimated to be over £100 million.
According to BBC sources, negotiations have advanced in the past 48 hours and the deal is almost complete.
The 23-year-old Frenchman has been valued by PSG at £140 million, but the total value of the transfer will be lower than this valuation.
While there are some details yet to be sorted out, the transfer will have a minimum value of £100 million, which can be increased with add-ons.
Barcola, who represented France at the 2022 World Cup, is one of the main targets of Liverpool as the club seeks to strengthen its attack.
Barcola is right-footed but plays best when utilized on the left wing. He can, however, be deployed on the right and in the middle.
He joined PSG from Lyon in 2023 in a deal worth £38.5 million. Since then, he has won three league titles, two Champions Leagues, two French Cups, one Uefa Super Cup, and one Fifa Intercontinental Cup.
Yankee Scores had reported that there has been a difference in valuation between both clubs all through summer, as PSG wants to get around £145 million for their French international player.
As it stands, Liverpool is the sole club pursuing Barcola who is entering the last two years of his contract and has become unhappy with his current position at the European champions.
Liverpool Pursue Multiple Targets
The other move Liverpool has attempted to make is signing Barcola’s teammate Ibrahim Mbaye who operates on the right flank.
The club’s aim through the transfer window has been to strengthen their positions on the wings.
They have been targeting Barcola and Mbaye while Brighton have also turned down two Liverpool offers for Yankuba Minteh, the most recent one being £60m.
