Thomas Tuchel has decided to leave out Manchester United defender Harry Maguire from the England World Cup squad. The Man Utd defender says he is “shocked and gutted.” Yankee Scores reports.
The Centre took to his social media page to post his reaction to the news: “I was confident I could [have] played a major part this summer for my country after the season I’ve had. I’ve been left shocked and gutted by the decision.”

Harry Maguire started 14 of the last 16 Premier League games under interim coach Michael Carrick after losing his spot during Ruben Amorim’s era. He boasts of 66 caps for England.
His most recent game for the National team came in March, where he impressed in the 1-1 draw with Uruguay and also came on as a late 83rd minute sub in the 1-0 loss to Japan.
Nevertheless, speaking after the game, Thomas Tuchel hinted that Maguire was not yet his first choice centre-back, naming four other defenders ahead of him.
According to him, “I got exactly what I thought, solid, solid central-defender play.” He went on about Maguire’s performance, “That’s what he does. Very good on the ball, very calm, strong in the air and in the weapon for set-pieces.
Tuchel will name his 26-man squad for this summer’s World Cup on Friday morning.
