Paris Saint-Germain solidified its status as a European dynasty on Saturday, successfully defending its Champions League title with a heart-stopping penalty shootout victory over Arsenal at the Puskas Arena, Yankee Scores reports.
After the two sides remained locked at 1–1 through both regulation and extra time, PSG ultimately clinched the trophy with a 4–3 result in the shootout. The deciding moment came when Arsenal defender Gabriel Magalhaes sent his penalty attempt soaring over the crossbar, handing PSG the crown and touching off wild celebrations among the French side’s traveling supporters.
The match began with high intensity, as Arsenal stunned the defending champions early. Kai Havertz opened the scoring in the sixth minute, breaking through the PSG defense and firing a clinical strike past goalkeeper Matvey Safonov.

PSG, however, maintained composure and eventually tilted the game in their favor through superior possession. Their persistence paid off in the 65th minute when Ousmane Dembélé converted from the penalty spot to level the score. The equalizer held firm through the remainder of the second half and a tense period of extra time—a rarity for the tournament, as this marked the first time in a decade that a Champions League final required extra time to resolve.
The shootout proved a test of nerves for both squads. While Arsenal’s David Raya kept his side in contention with a crucial save against PSG’s Nuno Mendes, and PSG’s Eberechi Eze missed an earlier opportunity, the momentum shifted decisively in the final frames.
After Lucas Beraldo successfully buried his spot kick for PSG, the pressure fell squarely on Gabriel. With the title on the line, the defender’s miss ensured that Paris Saint-Germain would remain the undisputed kings of Europe for another year.
