The New York Giants are putting former superstar wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. through his paces again in this offseason as they mull getting him back on board, Yankee Scores reports…
Additionally, the Giants intend to sign WR Braxton Berrios to a one-year contract, his agents Drew Rosenhaus and Robert Bailey informed ESPN.
In that tryout session, New York had considered veteran wide receivers Juju Smith-Schuster and Anthony Miller, sources say.
It is noteworthy that the tryout comes amid the setback with the wide receiver and kick returner Gunner Olszewski tearing his Achilles tendon during an OTA practice. In addition, WRs Malik Nabers (knee) and Darius Slayton (core muscle) have been out with their injuries at present.
The Nostalgia
The 33-year-old Beckham had done a workout with the Giants back in April.
The two have kept in regular contact since then as Beckham and the coach John Harbaugh enjoyed working together in Baltimore during the 2023 season.
“Talked to Odell a lot, probably three or four times in the last week, [see] where he’s at, where we’re at,” Harbaugh said last month.
The Harbaugh Connection
Harbaugh also noted that last tryout went well, but the decision regarding Beckham’s future would be taken further down the road. The Giants will conclude with four voluntary OTAs this week and have a mandatory minicamp next Monday-Wednesday.
Interestingly enough, Beckham spent this weekend around the Giants’ premises participating in the Brian Burns Celebrity Softball Game. At the event, he had a chat with quarterback Jaxson Dart and Nabers. There was “unfinished business” left as the wide receiver stated to The New York Post.
