The Knicks came back from being down by 14 in the second half to win 105-95 against the San Antonio Spurs in Game 1 of the Finals on Wednesday night, Yankee Scores reports…

Jalen Brunson scored 30 points, and Karl-Anthony Towns had 18 points along with 12 rebounds.

Strong Start for Knicks

OG Anunoby added 17 points for New York, which now has won 12 playoff games in a row. This ties the second longest such streak in NBA history.

The 1999 Spurs and the 2017 Warriors both won 12+ games during a single postseason too. Both of those teams eventually became champions.

“I think we know what we have to do,” Brunson said. “I think we’re a pretty together group.”

Brunson’s Heroics Continue

Brunson nailed 13 points in the fourth quarter, only six less than what San Antonio got as a team during that time. He then wrapped things up with a crazy spinning jumper while nearly falling to the ground with 38 seconds left on the clock.

“He’s a gamer, man,” Knicks coach Mike Brown said. “In the biggest moments, he shows up. That’s what MVPs are supposed to do.”

This win made history for the Knicks. With their 11-0 game-closing run, they became the first team ever to knock off San Antonio in a Game 1 of a championship series. The Spurs had been 6-0 in such games previously. Also, San Antonio had never trailed in a Finals series until now.

Wembanyama Left Searching for Answers

Wembanyama put up 26 points and grabbed 12 rebounds in his Finals debut, yet shot 6-for-21 from the field. Castle added 17 points, and both Champagnie and Harper chipped in with 16 each for the Knicks.

“I was bad tonight,” Wembanyama said. “It’s not more complicated than that.” “I think we let that one go,” Wembanyama said.

It’s just 1-0, but the Knicks are only three wins away from their first title in 53 years. They just took home-court advantage from San Antonio.

“We have a long way to go,” Brunson said.
