Austin Reaves will re-sign with the Los Angeles Lakers on a four-year, $185 million max deal. The contract includes a player option for the final year in 2029-30, Yankee Scores reports.

It is the largest NBA contract ever signed by an undrafted player. It tops Duncan Robinson’s $90 million deal with the Miami Heat in 2020, Per Yahoo Sports

Reaves declined his $14.9 million player option to clear the way. The Lakers negotiated with agents Aaron Reilly and Reggie Berry of AMR Agency for 10 days.

Breaking: Los Angeles Lakers star Austin Reaves intends to sign a four-year, $185 million maximum contract to return to the franchise, with a player option for the final season in 2029-30, sources tell @shamscharania.

The deal marks a stunning rise for the 28-year-old guard from Newark, Arkansas. Reaves went undrafted before signing a two-way contract with the Lakers in August 2021.

Last season, Reaves averaged 23.3 points, 5.5 assists, and 4.7 rebounds on 49% shooting. Injuries limited him to just 51 games, including missing the first-round playoff series against Houston.

His new salary of $46.5 million annually is a massive jump from last season’s $14 million.

“He started his journey here as a Laker,” said Lakers president Rob Pelinka. “He’s made it very clear he wants his journey to continue as a Laker.”

Reaves was considered the top player on the free-agent market. The Detroit Pistons had reported max-level interest. The Lakers moved quickly to retain their star.

Alongside Luka Dončić, Reaves gives Los Angeles a proven co-star. The duo forms one of the NBA’s most exciting backcourts heading into next season.
