Manchester United have wasted no time in reshaping their midfield this summer and have confirmed the signing of Youri Tielemans from Aston Villa on a five-year deal.
The Belgian international is arriving after United activated a £35million release clause in his Villa contract, per Yahoo sports, a fee that is seen as a bargain given his Premier League pedigree.

A Deal Based on Trust
United had been tracking Tielemans since his Leicester City days, waiting patiently even after his 2023 switch to Villa.
New season approaching with Casemiro gone and Manuel Ugarte injured, manager Michael Carrick prioritised adding an experienced midfielder.
Tielemans is certainly a man who fits the bill. He comes with 244 Premier League appearances, an FA Cup winner’s medal from his Leicester days and last season’s Europa League triumph with Villa still fresh. He also led Belgium at this summer’s World Cup, guiding his country to the quarter-finals.
The Answer
Tielemans didn’t hide his excitement once he put pen to paper. “I can’t put into words how proud I am to be joining Manchester United,” he said. “It’s incredible to sign for such a special club, it is the result of years of hard work since I fell in love with football”
United’s director of football Jason Wilcox echoed those sentiments and lauded the 29-year-old’s consistency and leadership qualities on and off the pitch.

United have added their second midfielder of the week after Andrey Santos signed from Chelsea. Reports have suggested a third midfielder could still be brought in before the transfer window slams shut.
