The Dallas Mavericks are locking up one of their breakout contributors. Forward Naji Marshall has agreed to a three-year, $52.2 million extension, Yankee Scores reports.
The deal is fully guaranteed and runs through the 2029-30 season, sources said. Dallas confirmed the extension Sunday afternoon, though the club stopped short of releasing financial details.
It’s a significant payday for the 28-year-old, and a well-earned one. Stepping into an expanded role in his second season with the Mavericks, Marshall posted career highs across the board — points, assists, field goal percentage, steals. The jump was especially clear in his scoring outbursts: after managing just two 30-point games in his career up to that point, he had six of them this past season alone.
Since arriving in Dallas, the 6-foot-6 forward has averaged north of 14 points a game while shooting 51% from the field — a sharp climb from the sub-eight-point averages he posted across four seasons in New Orleans.
One area where Marshall has quietly separated himself: the floater. He was one of only three players in the league last season to knock down at least 100 of them, putting him in the same company as All-NBA guard Donovan Mitchell and Jalen Brunson.
The new extension builds on the three-year, $27 million deal Marshall signed as a free agent back in 2024 — a bet that’s clearly paid off for both sides.
