Cincinnati won the opener on Friday night 4-2, with Eugenio Suárez hitting a two-run homer and starter Rhett Lowder going five good innings.
St. Louis responded in kind Saturday, blanking the Reds 7-0 in a huge offensive showing after managing only two hits in the series opener, per ESPN
That sets up game three for Sunday at 2:15 p.m. ET with left-hander Kyle Leahy on the mound for the Cardinals against Reds right-hander Andrew Abbott.
The Reds are 47-54 and six games behind Arizona for the final wild-card place in the National League heading into the finale.
But they’ve won five of seven since the All-Star break and are hoping to take that momentum into the deciding game of the series.
St. Louis is 52-50 and seeking to break out of a spell of quiet offense at the bat.
