The San Antonio Spurs failed to extend their historic unbeaten winning streak to 12, falling to the New York Knicks 114–89 on Sunday night at Madison Square Garden.
The Knicks, riding momentum from their previous win, improved to 39–22 and secured back-to-back victories in front of a roaring home crowd.
San Antonio started well, building a 12-point lead midway through the first quarter with effective ball movement and Victor Wembanyama’s early impact.
The Knicks responded quickly, with coach Mike Brown shifting to a smaller lineup and ramping up the defensive pressure on the Spurs’ perimeter shooters.
This tactical change helped force turnovers and disrupted San Antonio’s offensive flow, allowing New York to end the quarter ahead 22–21. From then on, New York controlled the game with strong defense and balanced scoring.

Knicks Take Control

Mikal Bridges delivered one of his most complete performances of the season, knocking down five three-pointers, swiping five steals, and finishing with 25 points to energize the Knicks on both ends of the floor.
Impressively, Bridges recorded a 5.8 percent steal rate for the game, almost double his season average, highlighting just how disruptive he was defensively against the Spurs.
Jalen Brunson provided steady scoring and playmaking, closing the night with 24 points, while Karl-Anthony Towns controlled the glass with a dominant 14 rebounds.
Towns’ rebound rate soared to 23 percent, underscoring his efficiency on the boards and limiting San Antonio’s second-chance opportunities.

Defensively, New York forced the Spurs into rushed possessions and limited their perimeter shooting.
The Knicks held San Antonio to just 42% from the field and 26% from three-point range, well below the Spurs’ season average of 37% from deep.
This marked their lowest three-point performance of the year and effectively neutralized the Spurs’ rhythm.

Wembanyama Shines, But Spurs Falter

Victor Wembanyama continued to showcase his star power, posting 25 points, 13 rebounds, and 4 blocks.
His presence kept the Spurs competitive early, but the lack of consistent scoring support proved costly.
The New York Knicks ended the San Antonio Spurs’ 11-game winning streak with a 114-89 victory on Sunday, preventing the Spurs from setting a new franchise record for consecutive wins.

Statement Win for New York

For the Knicks, the victory was more than just another notch in the win column—it was a statement. By halting one of the league’s hottest teams, New York reinforced its standing as a legitimate contender in the Eastern Conference.
With this win, the Knicks positioned themselves more firmly in the race for a top-four playoff seed and moved closer to securing home-court advantage in the first round.
As the regular season winds down, each game will be critical for New York to solidify their place in the standings and build momentum for a deep postseason run.
