LeBron James knows the conversation will never end. As his career winds down, the NBA legend, in an interview, reflected on Michael Jordan’s influence while pushing back against comparisons before Game 5 against the Rockets. Yankee scores reports.
Respect for Jordan’s Legacy
In a recent conversation with ESPN, James acknowledged how Jordan inspired him growing up in Akron. He admired Jordan’s midrange jumper, elite post game, and relentless will to win. James said he studied every move, dreaming of sneakers, game‑winners, and the roar of the crowd.

James made emphasis on the different in their style and game. “I never have compared myself to MJ because our games are totally different. I have been a point-forward/forward-point my whole life. I have always looked for the pass. MJ kind of looked for the shot”, he said.
He spoke about their similarities, emphasizing how they have both had great moments throughout their career. “We’re both great basketball players”, he said.
James pointed out that the whole GOAT debate is, “a very tiring conversation” and “barbershop talk”.
The Finals Debate
Critics often point to James’ 4‑6 record in the NBA Finals compared to Jordan’s perfect 6‑0 mark. James admitted frustration early in his career but now views the criticism differently. He noted his record‑breaking scoring milestones and consistency, saying the negative spin no longer bothers him.
