Minnesota United have broken silence over James Rodriguez non-sports-related medical condition. Yankee Scores reports

The Truth behind Rodriguez’s Condition

The MLS outfit have debunked the news making the round that James Rodriguez is suffering from a potentially life-threatening muscle-wasting condition.

The former Real Madrid and Bayern Munich midfielder made a return to Minnesota’s training ground on Monday after being hospitalised.
The Colombia International showed signs of illness during Colombia’s 3-1 defeat by France on 29 March. He subsequently spent three days in hospital with severe dehydration.

Rodriguez’s Diagnosis

Rodriguez is under observation because of “a non-sports-related medical issue,” although “the diagnosis is favorable.” This is according to a statement from the Colombia Football Federation dated April 2,

In the context of rumors and information circulating on social media and even in some American newspapers about rhabdomyolysis—rare disease that causes muscle damage when the body is exposed to extreme stress, thus causing severe health problems when toxic muscle tissues enter the blood stream—the Minnesota United, where Rodriguez plays, has clarified the whole situation. There has not been any scientific evidence that Rodriguez suffers from rhabdomyolysis.

The midfielder, who has twice won the UEFA Champions League while playing for Real Madrid and who was on the books at Premier League Everton before he transferred to the MLS club, participated in a “return to activity session supervised by club medical staff” on Monday. His further training regimen will be decided by the club’s medical team.

Rodriguez has only featured in two games since he signed for the MLS club in early February.
