Fellow American Patrick Kypson tried to put up a challenge against Taylor Fritz but the American came through 6-2 6-2 7-5 on Court 2 to reach the third round of Wimbledon 2026, Yankee Scores reports
The sixth seed raced into an early lead against his lower-ranked rival with Fritz cruising through the first two sets and losing only four games in the process.

His serve was on early, and Kypson had trouble finding his footing against the tempo.
The third set had a different narrative to tell. Kypson found his range and started to worry Fritz with his own huge serve.
Fritz was forced to endure a marathon six-deuce game until he broke back to even it at 4-4.
For a time it seemed the world number 113 might push the contest to a fourth set but Fritz stood his ground at just the right moment.
He broke at the 12th game to close off the match and book his place in round three.
According to Tennis Temple, Kypson had advanced to the second round for the first time in his career after slogging past Mackenzie McDonald in four sets earlier in the week.

That streak featured his first Grand Slam main draw win but his lack of grass experience finally showed against a far more experienced opponent.
Fritz, who was a semifinalist at the All England Club in 2022 is still searching for his first Grand Slam win.
He comes into round three in good form after making the finals in Stuttgart and Halle earlier this grass season.
He will next face either Gabriel Diallo of Canada or Italy’s Lorenzo Sonego for a berth in the fourth round.
