Victor Wembanyama delivered another signature performance Friday night, scoring 27 points with 10 rebounds and four blocks as the San Antonio Spurs erased a 25-point deficit to stun the Los Angeles Clippers 117-112. The win not only snapped the Clippers’ three-game streak but also reinforced San Antonio’s surge, with the Spurs now having won 14 of their last 15 games to sit second in the Western Conference.

Fourth-Quarter Surge Turns the Tide

Trailing 75-50 in the third quarter, the Spurs ignited a furious rally. An 18-5 run to open the fourth gave them their first lead since the opening minutes. Wembanyama’s defensive presence was pivotal, swatting Kris Dunn’s reverse layup to spark a fast break capped by Carter Bryant’s alley-oop dunk. Devin Vassell followed with a clutch three-pointer, pushing San Antonio ahead 99-97.

Closing Moments Define the Win

With 16 seconds left, Wembanyama broke free for an uncontested dunk after defending Kawhi Leonard’s missed three, giving the Spurs a 113-112 lead. On the ensuing possession, Clippers forward Nicolas Batum stepped out of bounds while inbounding, sealing Los Angeles’ fate. Rookie Stephon Castle then rebounded his own missed free throw and converted a layup with one second remaining to secure the victory.

Supporting Cast Shines

Julian Champagne added 20 points and nine rebounds, while De’Aaron Fox chipped in 19 points and nine boards. For the Clippers, Kawhi Leonard led with 30 points and nine rebounds, while Brook Lopez poured in 26, including nine in the opening quarter with a mix of floaters and fadeaways.

Wembanyama’s Emotional Finish

After the final buzzer, Wembanyama was visibly emotional, embracing teammates and pumping his fists toward the home crowd. He later admitted the comeback felt “special” and that the team’s resilience reflected their growing confidence as playoff season approaches.

What’s Next

The Clippers head to Memphis on Saturday, while the Spurs will host the Houston Rockets on Sunday, aiming to extend their dominant stretch.

This comeback wasn’t just about numbers—it was about belief, and Wembanyama’s emotional reaction showed how much this win meant to him and the Spurs’ faithful.
