Chelsea’s Champions League hopes ended brutally, with PSG exposing their flaws in a one-sided contest at Stamford Bridge… Yankee Scores reports.

The Blues suffered their joint-heaviest European defeat, losing 8-2 on aggregate after a 3-0 second-leg defeat to Paris Saint-Germain. Khvicha Kvaratskhelia struck inside six minutes, capitalising on Mamadou Sarr’s hesitant defending. Bradley Barcola doubled the lead soon after, punishing Moises Caicedo’s midfield error with a superb half-volley.

Chelsea responded with chances through Cole Palmer, Enzo Fernandez and Joao Pedro, but PSG’s ruthless finishing left the tie beyond reach. Home fans voiced frustration, chanting for former owner Roman Abramovich while directing anger at the current board.

Mayulu adds to Chelsea’s misery

After the break, Liam Rosenior withdrew key players, seemingly conceding defeat. Substitute Senny Mayulu then curled in a stunning third, sealing PSG’s dominance. Chelsea’s night worsened when Trevoh Chalobah was stretchered off, leaving them down to ten men.

Rosenior admitted afterwards: “We lacked conviction in key moments. At this level, mistakes are punished.”

Chelsea’s European struggles continue

This marked Chelsea’s fourth consecutive Champions League knockout defeat, underlining their inconsistency. Despite flashes of quality in domestic cups, their young squad struggled to cope with the demands of Europe. Ten players in the starting XI had never played in the competition before this season.

As Sky Sports analysis noted: “Chelsea can beat anyone on their day, but those days don’t come often enough to win the biggest prizes.”

PSG look unstoppable

Luis Enrique’s side, now top scorers in the tournament, continue to sweep aside English opposition. Asked about his infamous “farmers’ league” remark, Enrique smiled: “It follows me all the time, but our performances speak louder than words.”

PSG will face the winner of Liverpool vs Galatasaray in the quarter-finals, with confidence soaring.

What’s next?

Chelsea return to Premier League action against Everton on Saturday, while PSG travel to Nice before the international break.
