Cleveland Browns

The Cleveland Browns are officially building toward the future. With shovels in the ground, Huntington Bank Field has begun construction as the team’s new enclosed home, set to open in 2029. Yankee Scores reports.

A Historic Groundbreaking

Haslam Sports Group, alongside AECOM Hunt, Turner Construction, and HKS, hosted the groundbreaking ceremony for the new Huntington Bank Field, the future home of the Cleveland Browns staring in 2029 season in Brook Park.

The event featured panels on fan experience, and team vision. The first panel consisted of HSG Managing Partners Whitney Haslam Johnson, JW Johnson and HSG President Dave Jenkins. Followed with a panel discussing economic impact consisting of NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell, Ohio Governor Mike DeWine, and Browns legend Joe Thomas.

Pro Football Hall of Famer and Browns Legend Joe Thomas led a conversation with General Manager Andrew Berry, head Coach Todd Monken, linebacker Carson Schwesinger and cornerback Denzel Ward.

Commitment to Northeast Ohio

Dee and Jimmy Haslam emphasized their dedication to the region, calling the stadium “an economic catalyst” that will deliver best‑in‑class experiences. “Our family is deeply committed to Northeast Ohio and we know our community deserves this stadium and transformative project,” said Dee and Jimmy Haslam.

The project is expected to generate more than 6,000 construction jobs and thousands of permanent positions, making it the largest economic development initiative in Northeast Ohio history.

“Today we celebrate a significant moment for the Cleveland Browns, the National Football League and all of Northeast Ohio,” said Mark A. Williams, FAIA, Partner and Executive Vice President at HKS. “We value our partnership with the Haslam family in creating a sports and entertainment destination that reflects the spirit of Cleveland, through a design that will deliver memories to be cherished for generations.”

A Stadium Like No Other

The new Huntington Bank Field will be Ohio’s first enclosed stadium, capable of hosting Browns games, NCAA Final Fours, international soccer matches, and concerts for up to 75,000 fans. Features include:

  • Closest seats in the NFL with a redesigned Dawg Pound.
  • Transparent roof inspired by Cleveland’s atriums.
  • Flexible capacity through a “Super Theater” concept.
  • First‑of‑its‑kind roofing system with enhanced sightlines.

Looking Ahead

AECOM Hunt and Turner Construction, with decades of NFL stadium experience, are leading the build. Designed by HKS, the venue will anchor a mixed‑use entertainment district developed by Lincoln Property Company, ensuring the Browns’ long‑term presence in Northeast Ohio.
