Kristaps Porzingis and Gui Santos delivered in crunch time, but the way Golden State sealed the win told the bigger story. Yankee Scores reports.

Porzingis Sets the Tone Early

Porzingis scored 28 points and dished out eight assists, giving the Warriors a strong start in their 131-126 victory over Washington on Friday night. The 7-foot-2 center hit a pair of threes and grabbed rebounds during a first-quarter surge that built a 38-25 lead.

Brandin Podziemski added 22 points, 10 rebounds, and seven assists, while Santos poured in 27 points. Gary Payton II chipped in 15, and Pat Spencer scored 13 as Golden State won its third straight game — their longest streak in nearly two months.

Santos’ Clutch Free Throws Seal It

The Wizards rallied late, taking a 111-106 lead with 6:30 left. Rookie Will Riley hit a three to cut the deficit to 129-126 with 13.6 seconds remaining. But Santos calmly sank two free throws, and Podziemski stole the inbounds pass to secure the win.

Santos, who had a career-high 31 points against Brooklyn earlier in the week, once again proved decisive. Santos made several big plays down the stretch.

Wizards’ Effort Falls Short

Riley finished with 22 points, five rebounds, and five assists. Bilal Coulibaly added 21 points, while Bub Carrington had 16 points and five assists. Donovan Clingan dominated the boards with 17 rebounds. Still, Washington’s defense faltered late, ending hopes of consecutive wins after snapping a 16-game losing streak Wednesday.

What’s Next

Golden State, still without Stephen Curry for the 24th straight game, heads to Denver on Sunday. The Wizards continue their road trip in Portland.
